PROJECT ASHRAY
For children in shelter homes, safety isn’t enough—they need healing.
Every child we work with has been orphaned, trafficked, abused, abandoned, or surrendered. Without mental health support, their trauma shapes their future.
That’s where Program Ashray comes in.
Our team of trauma-informed psychologists is embedded in these shelter homes, providing consistent, one-on-one care. Through individual and group counseling, we help children process their past, build resilience, and move forward.
Since we started, we have not seen even one suicide in any of these homes. Kids who once had no support now have a trusted mental health partner.
This isn’t a scalable program—it’s a deep, high-impact intervention. And for the children who rely on us, it’s life-changing.

THE SAVERA EFFECT
In collaboration with Sangath, EAIF created Program SAVERA, an intervention that is being used in shelter homes in different states. The program has demonstrated its effectiveness by a change in two assessment measures from pre to post mental health intervention with children, difficulty scores and depression.
-
The mean difficulty scores and mean depression scores decreased significantly post-intervention.
-
Suicide ideation reduced to half, post-intervention among the girls.
-
The number of girls with no difficulties and no depression doubled from pre to post-intervention.
Overall findings of the study indicated that Program SAVERA reduced mental health symptoms and improved resilience among vulnerable girls.
