PROJECT ASHRAY
Our "Transformative Mental Healthcare for Vulnerable Children" project is designed to address the unique emotional needs of children residing in shelter homes. These children, often coming from challenging backgrounds, require specialized support to heal from past traumas, develop emotional resilience, and reintegrate successfully into society. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the Juvenile Justice Care Act and aims to create a safe and nurturing environment that fosters their emotional well-being and holistic development. All the children we work with in this program have been orphaned, trafficked, abused, abandoned or surrendered. Our team of trained trauma informed clinical psychologists provide weekly individual and group counselling to these children.
Sessions include:
Art based or Play Therapy
Mental Health Awareness
Recognising Symptoms
Crisis Intervention
Suicide Prevention and Self Harm
Substance Abuse
Physical and Emotional Safety

THE SAVERA EFFECT
In collaboration with Sangath, EAIF created Program SAVERA, an intervention that is being used in shelter homes in different states. The program has demonstrated its effectiveness by a change in two assessment measures from pre to post mental health intervention with children, difficulty scores and depression.
-
The mean difficulty scores and mean depression scores decreased significantly post-intervention.
-
Suicide ideation reduced to half, post-intervention among the girls.
-
The number of girls with no difficulties and no depression doubled from pre to post-intervention.
Overall findings of the study indicated that Program SAVERA reduced mental health symptoms and improved resilience among vulnerable girls.
